St. Andrew Mission Society meeting was opened with devotions by Pastor
The Sams team met Sunday at St Andrews Lutheran Church, West Fargo with 9 in attendance.
President Del opened the meeting with a short devotion.
Election of officers: A unanimous ballot was moved by Bob Schafer that we keep the same officers: President, Del Ruff, Secretary, Janet Baker, Treasurer, Judy Rosin.
Judy gave a report on contributions received the past year.
Bob Schafer reported the old bus was sold for $3000.
The 2010 State LLL Convention is being held February 12 and 13 at St Andrews Lutheran Church with SAMS as the host group. We decided that with the help of the LWML we will handle it.
There is a Disaster Response Training Workshop coming up at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Fargo led by Pastor Merritt, on Saturday, September 26th from 8:30-12:30. There will be another workshop on Sunday, September 27th, at Zion Lutheran Church, Bismarck, from 1:30 to 5:30 PM. Anyone attending it would be beneficial on our mission trips. You will receive a certificate which may soon be required to work in Disaster areas as a volunteer.
Sams Mission Festival is tentatively planned for Dec 6, a committee will be working on the plans.
Possible destinations and dates for the next mission trip were discussed. Dates: January 22-31, 2010, or an alternate date of February 20-28, 2010. Kirk will check out some possibilities and report at our next meeting. Discussion was held on if we wanted to stay at the border and work across, or work close to the border, or go farther into Mexico. The consensus was to go where we felt was the greatest need. Possibilities were to return to Reynosa, go to Nuevo Laredo, or one of the churches in the Saltillo area.
Our next meeting will be October 17 at St Andrews Church at which time we will clean and repair the bus at 1:00 and at 4:00 have a meeting to discuss and choose a destination for our next mission trip. We would also sign up for committees that we would like to serve on.
